Sanur Beach
Sanur Beach is Bali’s oldest upscale resort area and a mature seaside town. Apart from the many restaurants and accommodations, the hotel has a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Generally more expensive than Kuta but cheaper than Seminyak. Sanur tends to be most attractive to middle-aged and elderly families, especially Europeans.
The Sanur area is sandwiched between Jalan Ngurah Rai bypass and the beach. One of the main routes called Jalan Danau Tamblingan runs from north to south through the city and is easy to set up yourself by referring to this road.
This tranquil beach town on Bali’s southeast coast was one of the first tourist hotspots, and it’s still known for its excellent hotels, shopping, breakfast, massages, and easy access to the Nusa Islands.
Where is Sanur Bali?
Sanur is located in the southeast corner of Bali Island, halfway between Denpasar and Bali’s main city center. Sanur Beach and Jalan Danau Tamblingan (Sanur’s main thoroughfare), as well as the Ngurah Rai Bypass and a part of land west of the Bypass, make up the Sanur region.
East of the Bypass, the primary tourism area is concentrated. The majority of tourists stay in this area, which also has the majority of Sanur’s hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, and activities. Most visitors to Sanur never venture west of the Bypass, despite the fact that it contains some hidden gems such as superb restaurants and rice paddies. Best Things to do In Sanur
1. Daybreak at Sanur Beach
Sanur Beach may not be one of Bali’s best beaches, but it is one of the best daybreak spots on the island. The fresh early morning air, birds chirping, fishers wading out on the reef, the Mount Agung volcano in the distance, and the entire daybreak spectacle here is simply magical. One of the nicest things to do in Sanur is to watch the sunrise on the beach. It’s an excellent way to start the day.
2. Sanur Boardwalk
Sanur Beach has a lengthy shoreline (about 7 kilometers) with a paved footpath that runs the length of it, making it ideal for an early morning walk, jog, or bike ride.
It’s a beautiful course flanked by fishing boats, hotel gardens, and beach eateries, with views of Mount Agung volcano in the background on occasion.
If you’re looking for things to do in Sanur Beach, the boardwalk is a wonderful place to start! The entire public beach is free to enter, and sunbeds and bicycles can usually be hired for 25k Rupiah (about $2) per day.

Sanur Beach is a popular tourist destination in Bali.
To be honest, Sanur beach can’t compete with Bali’s best beaches because there’s too much seaweed along the coast and the sand isn’t truly unique.
There are a few notable exceptions, but the majority of the beach is simply ordinary. Sanur, on the other hand, is ideal for families, which is why many Balinese locals and foreigners go to the beach here. It’s a great area for children to swim because of the calm sea waves and shallow water, plus there’s a great breeze in the summer (Might through August).

Kite Festival in Bali (July/August)
This is a yearly event held in Sanur where a variety of creative kites soar into the sky in a fun competition. During the dry season in Indonesia (May to September), Bali receives strong easterly winds, making Sanur a perfect location for kite flying. The festival’s centerpiece is usually held in July or August, and you may witness all kinds of bizarre and large kites, some of which are over 100 meters long!
Sanur Village’s Festival (August)
This is an annual celebration of Balinese arts, food, and culture that has been held on Sanur Beach since 2006. A traditional boat program and competition using the colorful ‘jukung’ fishing boats are also available.
This is Indonesia’s longest-running arts festival, which began in 1979 and is known as PKB or Pesta Kesenian Bali. It’s a well-known annual event that takes place in Denpasar city, just a 10-minute drive from Sanur, and lasts for a month.
Sindhu Night Market
This is a small night market in north Sanur where you can purchase local prepared foods like Nasi Campur, Satay, and Nasi Goreng at extremely sensible prices. It’s popular among locals and visitors alike, and you’ll find fresh vegetables, fruits, and fruit drinks.
The night market is open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., but it can stay open until 1 a.m. on busier nights.
Sanur Massage and Spa
A massage parlor can be found in almost every third structure in Sanur. Balinese massage is wonderful, and the prices are reasonable, starting at 100k Rupiah ($7 USD) for a one-hour body or foot massage. Several of Sanur’s high-end resorts also have their own spas and massage centers, which are typically pricey but excellent.

Yes, Sanur is a very safe place to visit. It’s frequently referred to as one of Bali’s nicest places. You should be fine if you follow standard precautionary steps.
We’ve even been at the beach in the dead of night to photograph the sunrise, and there are always a slew of other photographers there as well. Many individuals begin jogging the trail at Sanur Beach even before morning. Violent crime is uncommon in Bali and Indonesia as a whole.

The rainy season in Bali lasts from November to April. The weather can be humid and hot during the day, with temperatures ranging from 90 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (32 to 35 degrees Celsius), but it’s less crowded during this time, and rain falls mostly in the evening.
Temperatures are cooler and more light and breezy from May to August. This is the windy season, and the weather is at its best. It’s also the busiest time of year for tourists, so expect crowds.
