The best part about a Bali vacation is not having to cook. When living in a Seminyak villa, you may have a chef on staff, but dining out with the family is always a welcome change.
When you’re out shopping with the kids or just strolling around Seminyak soaking in the sights, this handy list contains some of our favorite restaurants that don’t need you to dress up, are reasonably priced, and are ideal for families.
Seminyak is well-known for its restaurants, food culture, and several high-end options (perfect for a date night!).
The main street, Jalan Kayu Aya, is known as “Eat Street,” and it is lined with restaurants, great cafés that are also child-friendly, and fast food businesses to satisfy those ravenous little appetites.
We’ve compiled a list of some fantastic places to take the kids in and around Seminyak where they’ll be welcomed and, more importantly, you’ll be able to relax. The majority of the villas are close together, so all you have to do is wander around with the kids. If you become lost, there are usually helpful locals who can point you in the correct route.
1. Sisterfields
This is an institution and the most well-known restaurant in Seminyak. Burgers, pizzas, salads, wraps, and juices, to mention a few options. It’s jam-packed with a wonderful ambiance, making this a great place for families. Expats and most tourists visiting Seminyak adore it. This should be at the top of your list of locations to take the kids.
2. Italian Corner
It’s difficult to go wrong with pizza and kids. Great pizza and courteous service make this a win-win situation. A cozy-sized restaurant on a quiet side street – a takeaway is always an option if you can’t get a table, or book ahead of time to ensure you do. The pizzas are authentically Italian, with thin crusts and little toppings.
3. Cornerhouse in Seminyak
Has a wow factor but also delivers delicious food for the entire family. Right at the start of Eat Streat, this location is ideal. One of the earliest high-end family-style eateries worth a visit. The Cornerhouse Cafe, located at the top of Eat Street, is an institution and a must-visit for the entire family for lunch or dinner.
4. Wacko Burger Café
A laid-back and welcoming semi-open-air burger establishment. Wacko bakes its buns on a daily basis and makes their own mayonnaise and sauces. In addition to burgers, the menu features fish and chips, hot dogs, spag bol, and steaks, all served with chips and onion rings. Combine them with a delicious milkshake creation, and the whole family will be satisfied.
5. Happy Chappy’s
Excellent Chinese cuisine in a chic, premium atmosphere. Sunday Yum Cha is a fun alternative for kids, with fresh and flavorful cuisine. Happy Chappy is a terrific family restaurant with warm and responsive service.
6. Taco Casa
Mexican food is usually popular with children, and Taco Casa serves handmade tortillas made with fresh ingredients (and no MSG!). The staff is pleasant, and the service is prompt. And with margaritas to help mum and dad unwind, it’s hard to top.
7. Made’s Warung
This is an institution, a great traditional Balinese restaurant replete with Balinese dancers. It is designed for tourists, but it also has a western cuisine, which is ideal for picky eaters. Friendly service and a pleasant ambiance make this a fantastic spot to introduce youngsters to Balinese cuisine and have a quiet family supper.
8. Ku De Ta
You could be forgiven for assuming that Ku De Ta is only for adults, but on Sundays from 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the crew at Ku De Ta hosts a ‘Family Dayze,’ where kids can enjoy a jumping castle and a craft tent. Food is a form of snack that children will appreciate.
9. Motel Mexicola in Seminyak
The tacos and burritos, as well as the fun-themed Mexican-style restaurant, will appeal to children. They can run about in the courtyard and burn off some energy while the adults sip margaritas. In the center of Seminyak, most villas should be a quick 10-minute taxi ride away.
10. The Lawn in Batu Bolong
Take the kids to Batu Bolong, the next suburb from Seminyak, and enjoy a picnic or early-evening meal on a grass lawn by the ocean; hence the name. There are hammocks, huge sofas, and bean bags available for the entire family to relax and unwind. If you need to cool off, you can go for a quick swim at the beach. Food is casual and simple, with a broad selection of snacks and popcorn for children to enjoy. This is a fantastic day out, but I would recommend going about 2-3 pm when it is later in the afternoon and less hot.
11. BossMan Burger
The name is self-explanatory. BossMan on Jalan Cendana, right off Eat Street, serves the greatest burgers in Seminyak. It’s directly across the street from Seminyak Village, so it’s really easy to spot, and you’ll notice the location by all the buzz and people around – it’s incredibly popular!
12. Johnny Rockets
This American-themed hamburger establishment caters solely to children. This restaurant is easy to overlook because it is located on Eat Street and has prominent signage. The easygoing atmosphere and fast-food approach will appeal to children. There are shakes, burgers, salads, fries, and hot dogs to choose from. After that, take them to Candylicious in Seminyak Village for some lollipops.
13. Candylicious
For a treat, take the kids to Candylicious in Seminyak (in Seminyak Village). They’ll enjoy this place if they have a sweet tooth. Chocolates, jelly beans, and other delicious items will be appreciated.
14. Naughty Nuri’s
Naughty Nuri’s has been serving families burgers and ribs in Seminyak for over a decade. It’s a must-see, and as the video shows, it’s very easy to get to. You’ll enjoy family-friendly food at reasonable pricing that will keep you returning with the kids. Oh, and for dessert, there’s the famed Gusto gelato just up the road.
