Tegal Wangi Beach Bali
This beach in Bali is named Tegal Wangi after the tourist area was built by the Segara Tegalwangi Temple. The name Tegalwangi Beach consists of two words, namely Tegal which means garden or plantation, while Wangi means fragrant. It literally means a fragrant garden.
Tegal Wangi Beach is used as the venue for the Melasti Day event, which is a self-purification ceremony to welcome Nyepi Day by all Hindus. Tegal Wangi Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on South Bali’s Bukit Peninsula.Tourists and locals alike go to Pantai Tegal Wangi to watch the sunset from the cliffs or go swimming in the rock swimming pools along the scenic shoreline below.
You’ll discover everything you need to know in this guide, including how to get there, the best time to visit, and what to expect once you arrive.
The location is somewhat hidden because it is under a cliff, therefore this beach has not been much exposed. To get to the beach, you have to go down a stone path. Use comfortable footwear so that your feet do not hurt when descending and climbing cliffs.
What is the Best Way to Get There?
If you plan on staying in Jimbaran, we recommend renting a scooter and driving the short distance to Pantai Tegal Wangi. It’ll take you about 45 minutes to get here if you’re coming from Kuta, Seminyak, or Canggu, depending on traffic.
When arranging a vacation to Uluwatu, another alternative is to book a full-day tour to see the greatest beaches in Uluwatu as well as other major tourist destinations in the Bukit Penisula.
Pandawa Beach, Melastic Beach, Padang Padang, Uluwatu Temple, Kecak Fire Dance, and a seafood supper on Jimbaran Beach are included in your Full-Day Uluwatu Tour, which includes a pick-up and drop-off from your accommodation.
Uluwatu Full-Day Tour is now available to book.
What to Expect
There is a little parking area on the left-hand side when you arrive.
Evictions for the parking lot are frequently open, and you can park inside for 2,000 IDR. If the gates are locked, you can park anywhere outside the gates on the gravel places. A dirt route leads directly to the top of the cliffs from the parking lot, and it’s a short walk down to the seashore from there.
When you first arrive, the viewpoint at the top of the cliffs offers excellent views of the craggy shoreline and the gorgeous blue waters along the southern beaches. The more popular Balangan Beach is the furthest headland seen in the distance from this vantage point. Take the stairs to the beach below the cliffs and explore the numerous natural rock swimming pools that may be found on the exposed reef. With each thundering wave from the ocean, these natural rock swimming pools fill up with water.
At sunset, put your photography skills to the test by attempting to capture a beautiful reflection along the edge of the granite swimming pools.
Caves of Pantai Tegal Wangi
You’ll find two caverns beneath the cliffs if you walk along the sand to the absolute end of the beach until you can’t go any further. The first cavern is a little dugout in the cliff that gradually grows larger as the swells that hit this particular shoreline grow larger.
The second cave is significantly larger and better than the first. It’s about five meters tall and five meters wide. This is the ideal peaceful spot for laying down a sarong and listening to the waves crashing against the coast echo throughout the cave.

Best Time to Visit
The optimum time to check out is in the late afternoon, just before sunset. Because of its west-facing orientation, it’s one of the best places in South Bali to view the sunset.
However, around this time, Pantai Tegal Wangi is at its busiest, and it might be difficult to find a nice spot along the beach or on the cliffs to watch the sunset. Keep this in mind while planning your checkout. It’s probably preferable to go early in the morning if you want to appreciate this beach without the throng.
